I am a qualified Humanistic and Integrative counsellor and a Registered Member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and the Hampshire Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (HACP). I am warm, approachable and relaxed with a sense of humour. I offer a safe space to work with you confidentially always putting your needs first. I can help you to manage life's stresses and find your strengths providing a safe space for you to explore and understand your emotions.
I can provide the opportunity for you to gain better insight into yourself, your situation and the way you relate to others. I will support you by providing a non-judgemental and empathic space to explore different ways of looking at your life and the choices you make. I do not provide advice as I believe you hold the answers to leading a fulfilling life. I am able to integrate other counselling approaches where appropriate, such as Gestalt, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Existential.
Experience
I also work within an agency supporting people affected by crime and traumatic incidents where I provide support with domestic abuse, sexual abuse, anxiety, depression, suicidal ideation, addiction and harassment.
I have worked as a counsellor with young adults in an education setting providing support with a wide variety of issues including stress, low self esteem, depression, sexual abuse, self-harm, bereavement and relationship breakdown.
I spent time travelling around India in my early twenties and on my return began working in marketing. I then spent over 20 years working in a field sales environment where I worked to develop small to medium businesses. After having my children, I pursued a change of career direction and have spent over 7 years working in a junior school as a Learning Support Assistant and also providing support for children with issues such as anxiety, bereavement and low self-esteem. This led me to return to study to follow my passion of becoming a counsellor in order to offer help and support to individuals.
